The painting exhibition took place at the Vilnius Town Hall in February 2022.
Renowned Latvian artist, Professor and Vice-Rector of the Latvian Academy of Arts, Andris Vītoliņš has actively participated in exhibitions since 1996 in Latvia, Lithuania, and other European countries such as Denmark, Sweden, Germany, and Austria. In 2004, he received the annual “Latvijas Architektūra” award for the best debut. Vītoliņš has long been interested in industrial themes: machines, various vehicles, mechanisms, factories, and their components such as pipes, screws, taps, and joints.
His works are included in collections such as HangART-7, Red Bull Collection, Schlossberghotel, Baku Contemporary Art Museum, Swedbank Contemporary Art Collection, Latvian National Museum of Art, Matti Milius Art Collection, DnB Nord Bank, and Signet Bank collections, among others.
“We Need a Chance to Reborn” is Andris Vītoliņš’s second solo exhibition in Vilnius. The first took place in 2019 at the “Meno Niša” gallery, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and is starting its program with this prominent Latvian artist’s exhibition.
The exhibition “We Need a Chance to Reborn” focuses on the ability of individuals in crisis situations to envision a future. The artist’s work merges trust in ideas, thoughts, and “rebirth” within physical space. Ideas transformed into objects and things are given a chance to be reborn and rejuvenated in the paintings.
