E. Gineitytė on the Exhibition Concept:

With the scent of oil paints and turpentine filling the air, I enter a new realm of experimentation. The first painting task I assign to children is “Brightening or Darkening.” I begin with this — the painting experiments scatter in all directions. Any areas of color transform into landscapes, which I seemingly bid farewell to. Is this a teacher’s imprint, a part of my own self, or an escape into some ideal realm?

Everything happens unpredictably and leads to something hidden that needs to be discovered and brought to the surface of the canvas. Some elements remain in the imagination, retaining their mysterious spherical quality or sinking like a dream into a gray density. To describe a painting without an image (emptiness), I recall a philosopher’s statement: “…Man detached himself from everything and ultimately disappeared. Only light continued to shine incessantly…”

Everything is from the same Everything is about the same My thoughts, foreign words Admiration Perfect darkening in a bird’s feather The darkening of a lichen on a drying vine Green turning into red – merging Repetition in silver And the desire to repeat in gold I have started, thinking so much about it. The questions of painting remain unanswered.
