LECTURE SERIES “LIVING ARCHITECTURE”

Date

2022 09 25

2022 11 30

The project “Lecture Series, Meetings, Discussions Cycle LIVING ARCHITECTURE” is dedicated to the exploration and promotion of Lithuania’s immovable cultural heritage listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List—the historic center of Vilnius—marking the upcoming 30th anniversary of Vilnius’s inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

It is both an honor and a responsibility for a country to have cultural and natural heritage sites or locations inscribed on the World Heritage List. The historic center of Vilnius was the first site in Lithuania recognized globally in 1994. Therefore, Vilnius Town Hall, as an active participant in the city’s public life, organized this lecture series to discuss heritage and architecture, history and politics, culture and art, and other relevant topics.

The LIVING ARCHITECTURE project continues the educational lecture series held from 2017 to 2022, funded by the Cultural Heritage Department: “Impressions of Vilnius Old Town” (2017), “Stairs of History” (2018), “History of Vilnius Art in Architecture” (2019), and “World Heritage. UNESCO-listed Historic Center of Vilnius” (2020), “Jewish Cultural Heritage Route. Vilnius” (2022).
