Project “Impressions on the Theme of Vilnius Old Town”

Date

2017 09 12

2017 10 24

By updating the tangible cultural heritage and deepening the audience’s understanding of Vilnius Old Town’s cultural heritage sites, as well as fostering public awareness of heritage preservation, this project aimed to create an informal platform for local residents to meet. It offered a space for immediate atmosphere, dialogue, and open discussions.

We encouraged the audience to realize that Vilnius Town Hall— the heart of the Old Town—has been and continues to be the main gathering place for city residents, where discussions on heritage and architecture, history and politics, culture and art, and other relevant issues take place.

During the project, the following open lectures and discussions were held:

  • September 12 at 6 PM: Lecture “Aesthetics or Function? Vilnius Urbanism 1936–1939”
  • September 19 at 6 PM: Lecture “Cultural Heritage Protection in a Sustainable Society”
  • October 10 at 6 PM: Lecture “Legendary Places of Vilnius”
  • October 24 at 6 PM: Lecture “Public Space as (Political) Narrative: The Town Hall Square”
