Vilnius Town Hall 2018-2021 participated in the international project “Women Equal Share Presence in the Arts and Creative Industries / Lygiateisis moterų dalyvavimas meno ir kūrybinėse industrijose (Wom@rts)”.

This is an international project conducted by a network of public and private non-profit organizations, supported by the European Commission’s Creative Europe program.

The “Wom@rts” project promoted a broad initiative aimed at analyzing negative statistical data related to the participation of female artists and cultural professionals in various activities, and changing it.

The goal of the “Wom@rts” project is to highlight women’s contributions and diversity in European cultural heritage and to reduce gender inequality by supporting women’s participation from various sectors in the market, promoting their mobility, knowledge, training activities, and various joint events.

Over 4 years (from 2018 to 2021), the “Wom@rts” project operated in several areas, such as: creating a Charter promoting gender equality in cultural practice and a network of ambassadors representing female artists; research and studies aimed at collecting data on the status of female artists and cultural professionals in contemporary society; an international online platform connecting creators; organizing art residencies; organizing an exhibition for the 70th anniversary of Simone de Beauvoir’s book “The Second Sex”; seminars, conferences, and lectures; masterclasses and training courses for creators, cultural administrators, and entrepreneurs; participation of female artists and intellectuals in various international cultural forums and festivals.
