Viktoras Paukštelis, a painter and pianist, was born in 1983 and lives and works in Vilnius.

Viktoras Paukštelis designed a six-painting exhibition for the Great Hall of the Town Hall in dialogue with the historical building’s purpose and classical architecture. Large canvases are displayed not as in a gallery but following the tradition of decorating monumental representative spaces of architectural monuments with thematic paintings.

This is a newly created series of paintings on the theme of heroic staging. Surrounding a portrait of composer Richard Wagner are a group of paintings featuring horseback riders and a still life of a taxidermy eagle— a symbol of hunting trophies and power. Certain compositional motifs from old painting are borrowed, such as the portrait, horse rider, and still life. At the same time, using monochromy and fictitious imagery, these motifs are contemporarily modified. The paintings perfectly occupy the vast space of Vilnius Town Hall’s Great Hall.
