The Tauragė Cultural Center Folk Theater is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year. Director Genovaitė Urmonaitė organized the first Tauragė community gathering in 2006 at the Vilnius City Hall, and now invites everyone who treasures Lithuania to the 20th gathering in the heart of Vilnius.
The local gospel choir “Gloria” is younger but has already captivated thousands in Lithuania and beyond with its professionalism in performing secular, religious, classical, and Lithuanian songs. Led by the talented Rasa Levickaitė-Šerpytienė, the choir uplifts hearts to new heights!
These two strong collectives have joined forces to create a shared program, which they will proudly present at the Vilnius City Hall on February 15. The event is dedicated to February 16, the Day of the Restoration of the State of Lithuania.
Event Author and Director: Genovaitė Urmonaitė
She has worked with amateur theater in Tauragė for 46 years and has been organizing gatherings for Tauragė residents living in Vilnius for 20 years. The first gathering was held at the Vilnius City Hall, and this jubilee event will once again take place in the heart of Vilnius—the City Hall. All Tauragė community members, Vilnius residents, and guests are warmly invited.
The theater will also participate in the Pilgrimage of Hope to Rome with its play “Golgotos vynuogės” (Grapes of Golgotha) based on the book of the same name by Vidmantė Jasukaitytė. The event’s script draws inspiration from this book, featuring a scene with Vilius Orvydas. This unique stone sanctuary, created by the artist and stone mason monk, welcomed everyone—those suffering, broken, creative, faithful, and wronged.
Let this gathering be a warm, meaningful, and hopeful moment of togetherness for all of us living here and now.
The event is free of charge.
