The Vilnius Town Hall will host the exhibition "Lost Narratives" by artist Linas Kaziulionis (b. 1991) from November 5 to November 30, 2024.
The exhibition will open on November 5, 2024, at 5 PM at the Vilnius Town Hall.
L. Kaziulionis, the winner of the 2022 "Young Painter Prize" in the Baltic States, explores an acute problem of modern society - information overload, distortion, and the relativity of truth in his works. The artist invites visitors to critically examine the narratives surrounding us and their influence on our world perception.
The exhibition's core is the story of a fictitious chemical substance called "The Controller," through which mechanisms of manipulation and disinformation are revealed. L. Kaziulionis' paintings, characterized by vivid colours and masterful control of colour, metaphorically depict information flows as poisoned food we consume daily. The artist invites viewers to participate actively in the exhibition, encouraging them to critically evaluate the presented information and reflect on their role in information dissemination processes. The exhibition reminds us that even passive use of social media can contribute to creating information bubbles and increase the possibilities for manipulation.
"Lost Narratives" is an art project and an essential reminder of the importance of critical thinking in the modern world. Linas Kaziulionis' work, already presented in New York, Paris, Brussels, and elsewhere, reflects global trends and emphasizes the importance of art as a means to actualize the issue of disinformation.
The exhibition will open on November 5, 2024, at 5 PM at the Vilnius Town Hall. Visitors are welcome until November 30.
