Independence day of Ukraine

On 24 August, let's all stand together with Ukraine! Concert in Vilnius Town Hall Square for Ukraine's Independence Day - KARTU IKI PERGALĖS! | РАЗОМ ДО ПЕРЕМОГИ! | TOGETHER TO VICTORY!

7 p.m. THUNDERTALE (Lithuania), TaRuta (Ukraine),
International male choir UNIA (artistic director – Pavel Gonca)
9.30 p.m.  WALLS HAVE EARS (contemporary video and music interpretation of Ukrainian classics)

The concert will feature:
Lithuanian rock band THUNDERTALE, which for almost 20 years has been composing rock and lyrical, metal and ethnic motifs into a seamless whole in its music. A wide range of musical sounds is the band's calling card - this team performs both in academic venues and at noisy festivals.

Ukrainian band TaRuta from Kyiv – is a team of folklore researchers and professional pop-rock musicians who are not afraid to experiment and introduce modern music trends into authentic Ukrainian folklore. In 15 years of experimentation, TaRuta has given new life to more than ten ancient Ukrainian folk songs, turning them into real hits. At the beginning of their career, the band experimented a lot, but the one and only constant core of TaRuta has always been and will always be Ukrainian ethnicity. The audience has already been infected with this virus in many European countries. So be careful, you are in the zone of the ethnic TaRuta virus!

International male choir UNIA (artistic director - Pavel Gonca) was founded in 1990 in Minsk. The group has been active in its political, civic and cultural activities, organising charity events as long as it has been able to, supporting repressed Belarusian cultural activists against violence and fraudulent elections. Members of the collective have been repeatedly detained and fined. In early 2021, the choir and its leader were forced to leave Belarus due to political repression. Lithuania welcomed the choir members here. Currently, the choir includes singers from Grodno, Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania.

WALLS HAVE YEARS - contemporary video and music interpretation of Ukrainian classics "Flowers and gunpowder "+.
After delighting the city's citizens last year with a series of three events ("Vilnius, the City of Fairy Tales", "Vilnius, the North Jerusalem", "Vilnius, the City of Independence"), this year Walls Have Ears is returning to Vilnius Town Hall Square with a new event, this year dedicated to Ukraine's fight for freedom.
The context of geopolitical events dictated the theme for the organisers of the multidisciplinary art projects, so they are bringing together several renowned artists to work together and on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day, they are organising a concert in the Town Hall Square, based on a contemporary video and music interpretation of Ukrainian classical works.
