„Until now, the light of Birutė Zokaitytė's "recreations" of the Moon's craters still shone on us, while the works of her "Bluebeard" series intrigued us with its subconscious tensions, as did the urban reminiscences and moods of Zokaitytė last year‘s exhibition. And this exhibition, "Sharp Objects", grants us with an extraordinary opportunity to see the latest works of the graphic artist, created over five years – which have been "carried out" and carved, engraved and printed, bringing together all the emotions, hunches, grievances, fantasies and feminine wisdom.
Birutė Zokaitytė refers to this highly multi-layered, visionary, sometimes surreal cycle of images – as if levitating, floating in time, space and between consciousness and subconsciousness – as "Places I have not been and will not be". And really: it takes a lot of concentration to culturally trace the chronology, the authenticity and the supposed sources of the signs of this series. The sources of inspiration here are infinite, as are the infinite experiences that surround each woman-mother-artist, woman-medium, mediator between the strange experiences, images, visions and this particular World, all of them framed by the champs of the hardest Lithuanian wood.“ Said the art critic Vaidilutė Brazauskaitė-Lupeikienė.
