Book + Film: Autumn Cinema Evenings | Algimantas Puipa’s Film “A Wolf Teeth Necklace”

Date

2026 10 21

Time

From October 8 to 21, Vilnius Town Hall will host the traditional event series “Book + Film: Autumn Cinema Evenings.” Over three October evenings, audiences will be invited to rediscover the connection between literature and cinema – watching films inspired by literary works and meeting their creators.

The 5th anniversary edition of “Book + Film” will feature three Lithuanian films: Gytis Lukšas’s Vortex (Duburys), Raimundas Banionis’s The Purple Mist (Purpurinis rūkas), and Algimantas Puipa’s A Wolf Teeth Necklace (Vilko dantų karoliai). Following each screening, audiences will be invited to discussions with actors and directors about the journey of literary works to the big screen, the language of cinema, and the behind-the-scenes process of filmmaking.

“This year, we are celebrating the 5th anniversary of the ‘Book + Cinema’ autumn film series, which we are delighted to officially open at Vilnius Town Hall. We invite the people of Vilnius and visitors to the city to once again turn their attention to Lithuanian literature and the films it has inspired. Together with filmmakers, we will explore the journey of stories from the literary page to the big screen. We hope that even more audiences will join us this year and that the dialogue between literature, filmmakers and the public will become even more vibrant,” says Živilė Gallego, founder and producer of the project.
