On 7 August at 3:30 PM, the photography exhibition “Faces and Thoughts” by photographer Algimantas Žižiūnas (1940–2023) will open at Vilnius Town Hall.
The Lithuanian Central State Archives invites visitors to explore the portraits of prominent figures from Lithuanian culture, science, politics, education, and public life captured by the accomplished photographer A. Žižiūnas. The photographs are accompanied by intriguing and often witty handwritten thoughts, insights, and reflections on life by the people portrayed. Forty photographs selected from a series of more than 1,800 portraits reveal not only the faces of these individuals, but also their values, worldview, and the spirit of their time.
During the exhibition opening, maestro Andrius Krevnevičius will perform on the violin. Representatives of the Archives, the photographer’s family members, and other guests will also present the exhibition and speak about A. Žižiūnas’s artistic legacy.
Can’t make it to the opening? No problem! The exhibition will be on display until 30 August.
