“Čiurlionada” : Evenings of Piano and Organ Music

Date

2025 09 21

Two outstanding young pianists of the new generation will appear on the stage of Vilnius Town Hall – laureates of the 9th International M. K. Čiurlionis Piano Competition: first prize winner Jinhyung Park (South Korea) and second prize winner Simonas Poška (Lithuania).

This piano recital is part of the festive events dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis. The program will feature a selection of Čiurlionis’s piano works, reflecting his distinctive and poetic musical world, alongside compositions by other renowned masters such as Franz Liszt, Olivier Messiaen, and Frédéric Chopin. As Lithuania celebrates Čiurlionis’s jubilee, the world is also marking the 150th anniversary of Maurice Ravel’s birth, and his subtle piano works will likewise enrich the evening’s repertoire.

The concert is part of the series “Čiurlioniada: Evenings of Piano and Organ Music.” To mark this special anniversary, the International Cultural Projects Centre has brought to Vilnius past laureates of the M. K. Čiurlionis International Piano and Organ Competition, jury members, and distinguished guest performers. In addition to Čiurlionis’s works for piano and organ, the series also presents newly composed pieces inspired by his music, re-imagined fragments and themes, improvisations, both newly arranged and earlier adaptations, as well as works by his contemporaries.
