On 8 November, Vilnius Town Hall will host a concert by young pianist Vytautas Pocius – “8 Perspectives on the Piano”, dedicated to the anniversary of the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art. The evening invites audiences to discover the piano from different perspectives – to hear how many different worlds a single instrument can encompass and to explore what connects different eras, styles and the performer’s own musical experiences.
Vytautas Pocius is an 11th-grade student at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art, studying piano with expert teacher Albina Šikšniūtė. A laureate of international competitions, he is an active young concert pianist. For this recital, he will not take the stage alone – he will be joined by his fellow musicians: violinist I. Rupaitė, percussionist D. Daugirda, double bassist D. Murašov, as well as students of the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art – J. Jauniškis (piano), L. Beinaris (oboe) and K. Kutra (flute). The interplay of different instruments and sensitive musical dialogue will bring even more colour, vitality and unexpected musical moments to the evening.
The programme will feature works by D. Scarlatti, F. Liszt, F. Chopin, M. K. Čiurlionis, R. Strauss, G. Gershwin, M. Arnold and other composers.
The evening will be hosted by Gerūta Griniūtė.
This concert is Vytautas’ musical gift to the school where his musical journey began and continues to flourish.
