Visionary Sound and Virtuosic Mastery
On September 17, the piano and double bass duo of Gediminas Gelgotas and Roman Patkoló will perform at Vilnius Town Hall. The creative partnership between these two musicians is already familiar to Lithuanian audiences – Roman Patkoló has performed here several times as a soloist with chamber and symphony orchestras conducted by Gediminas Gelgotas, as well as with the NIKO ensemble. However, their dialogue as a duo will be heard on the Lithuanian stage for the first time. Following their concert in Vilnius, the duo will continue their concert tour in Italy.
Over nearly a decade of collaboration, Gediminas Gelgotas and Roman Patkoló have developed a distinctive musical connection based on mutual trust, creative freedom, and a profound understanding of each other’s musical language. In 2018, one of Germany’s leading classical music broadcasters, BR-KLASSIK, dedicated a special one-hour live broadcast to the artistic duo. Their joint recordings and concerts have also been featured in leading classical music publications such as Gramophone and The Strad.
Roman Patkoló is a recipient of the prestigious OPUS KLASSIK award for Instrumentalist of the Year. His concert career has taken him to Carnegie Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington, the Verbier and Lucerne Festivals, and other leading classical music stages around the world. Gediminas Gelgotas is one of Lithuania’s most prominent contemporary composers, whose music organically combines the aesthetics of minimalism, contemporary sound, rhythmic drive, and powerful emotional intensity.
The evening’s programme will feature music by Gediminas Gelgotas, one of the most influential composers of our time, Philip Glass, and other composers.
