On 1 December (Monday), at 13 a.m., a commemorative board will be celebrated on the Vilnius Hall, with the words of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz: “Lithuania’s security is also our security. The protection of Vilnius is the protection of Berlin.” This quote was made in May when the Chancellor attended the German Brigade inauguration ceremony in Lithuania.
The ceremony will be attended by Valdas Benkunskas, Mayor of Vilnius, Dr. Cornelius Zimmermann, German Brigade in Lithuania and other distinguished guests.
The event is open to all those who want to participate.
The commemoration of these words was initiated by the mayor of Vilnius, which was approved by the Historical memory Commission of Vilnius City and the Vilnius City Council.
A commemorative board with a quote in three languages, Lithuanian, German and English, will be installed on the Vilnius Hall building from the Vokieciu Street.
