One of the most prominent designers of Lithuania’s younger generation, Raimedas Latvys, presents his latest collection, “MAX DRAMA.”
On September 7, Raimedas Latvys will present his work for the first time as part of the official programme of Vilnius Fashion Week. For one evening, the historic Vilnius Town Hall will be transformed into a reality-show stage, with the designer’s latest collection, “MAX DRAMA,” taking centre stage. Inspired by social media culture, the aesthetics of reality television, and the constant human desire to be seen, the designer raises a question: where does authenticity end and performance begin?
Raimedas Latvys stands out in Lithuania’s fashion scene for his distinctive aesthetic, bold approach to contemporary fashion, and ability to respond sensitively to the cultural phenomena of today. Over the past several years, he has presented collections at major Lithuanian fashion festivals, won the LRT project Mados klubas (“Fashion Club”), and dressed numerous Lithuanian and international stars.
His growing professional recognition, distinctive visual identity, and ability to offer an unexpected creative direction with each new collection have brought increasing attention to his work from both the fashion community and a wider audience. His debut in the official Vilnius Fashion Week programme therefore marks an important new stage in his career and a creative milestone attracting considerable attention from the fashion community.
After several years of developing the FENCISUKA brand, Raimedas decided to create under his own name. According to the designer, this is not an attempt to distance himself from his previous work, but rather a natural step in his development and a desire for the clothes themselves to speak first, rather than a bold brand name.
“One day, I caught myself thinking that we all live as if we were part of a reality show. We compete for attention, visibility, and our time in the spotlight. Watching people, I kept asking myself why some seem so interesting while others do not. Eventually, I realised that the difference is very simple: some people perform life, while others actually live it. I think that is precisely what ‘MAX DRAMA’ is about,” says the designer.
The collection combines the aesthetics of reality television, references to pop culture, and the everyday life of contemporary society. Camouflage motifs and concealing layers appear in the garments, but here they are not about the desire to disappear. On the contrary, they speak to the paradox of modern life: we want to hide, yet at the same time we very much want everyone to see how we are hiding.
Although the concept of the collection was inspired by observing society, craftsmanship is equally important this time. Together with his team, the designer experiments with new constructions, materials, and techniques, making “MAX DRAMA” one of his most technically ambitious works to date.
